Tips for Creating an Effective Poster
Less text, more bullet points
Use visuals to communicate the science more than words
Cohesive color scheme that is not too distracting
Consider creating a QR code for people to learn more about your research instead of writing more detail on the poster
Tips for Presenting Your Poster
Use your abstract as a guide for presenting
Don't use too many specific numbers. Instead describe relationships, for ex. the concentration of CO2 was found to be 2x more in place 1 than place 2.
Be mindful of the time. You want to keep your initial presentation short, then allow the listener to ask more questions if they are interested
You will receive feedback on your manuscripts by next class. See deadlines for the manuscripts and poster here.

More Tips for Presenting Your Poster
Embrace your own voice. You want to be professional but not robotic! Speak in a way that you are comfortable with and that relates to your audience
Consider sharing an aspect of why you decided to research what you did-- a story invites the audience to learn more about what you found
Make comfortable eye contact with the crowd and avoid reading off the slides
Project your voice so that people can hear you
Don't forget to share the "why"-- Why is your topic important or relevant?
You have done an amazing job engaging with the fellowship and crafting a unique research project that highlights an issue in San Diego that more people should know about. We hope that you feel proud of your work and can go forth knowing that you are part of a greater community committed to promoting planetary health!
Consider the feedback on your manuscripts and read through your piece. Once your group is satisfied with the final version, add it to your Google Drive folder and make sure it is clearly labeled as your final draft.
