Mr. Emile Boucqueau arrived in India in 1971. He worked at 'Volantariat' in Pondicherry and at the 'Fraternal Life Service Home' center in Ousteri. In 1985, he founded PHEBS to help Indian children and enable them to receive an education. Mr. Boucqueau was the president of PHEBS until June 2007. Then, Mr. Willy Lambert (who sponsored a child at PHEBS) became President and handed over to Adèle Stimart in 2017 (a volunteer for PHEBS since 1999). In 2022, an Indian, whom Emile Appa had full confidence in, became President of PHEBS, Mr. Murali, and Adèle Stimart became Co-founder.
After his presidency, Mr. Emile Boucqueau was treasurer, then deputy secretary, always present for the staff, the children, and families in need. He guided us all. He passed away at the age of 93 on May 2, 2022, in Pondicherry. Since then, we continue his mission with gratitude. The local staff members, Maria and Leema, are former students of PHEBS.
By helping these children, our goal is to lift them out of extreme poverty so that they can build a dignified future. That is why we support them all the way through higher education, including university.
PHEBS assists children with all their school expenses (uniforms, books, syllabi, transportation, boarding fees, and if needed, medicines and hygiene products).
This is made possible through collective donations and individual sponsorships (moral and financial support, correspondence 2 to 3 times a year).
We provide them with social support as well as assistance for their families (welcoming, listening, informing, guiding, etc.).
We offer them a welcoming space at the PHEBS office (between 9 am and 9 pm). Children and their loved ones receive quality food prepared by our staff, and they are listened to by our team, all in a safe environment.
