PhD Your Way 2025 took place via an Unlisted YouTube Livestream from 2pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday 22nd October. There were talks, panel discussions and the opportunity to talk with current maths PhD students.
It can be a struggle to find clear information on PhDs, especially for people without current connections to academia. For PhD Your Way 2025, we will provide a "blank slate" perspective on applying, starting from:
What exactly does a maths PhD student do?
What are the experiences of underrepresented groups?
How do PhD applications work?
What should you consider before applying?
This should help you make an informed decision on applying for mathematics PhDs in the UK. You'll also have the opportunity to talk in an informal context, like a job-fair, with maths PhD students from over 20 different UK universities!
