This year's theme: “Prescribing” New Heights: What is your Mount Everest?
This year’s theme, “Prescribing New Heights,” is inspired by the novel Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer and how its themes – such as ambition, teamwork, pressure, selfishness vs. selflessness, knowing your limits, among others – translate to pharmaceutical care.
Everyone has their “Mount Everest,” whether you are a resident working on your year-long project, a new practitioner implementing a new initiative, an organization advocating for legislative change, a seasoned pharmacist considering a career change, or an individual trying to figure out a work/life balance to feel good at the end of the week.
As a pharmaceutical care practitioner, consider:
What is your “Mount Everest”? What “impossible” thing are you working towards?
Or maybe you achieved your “impossible” goal - now what?
Base camps have resources and support teams. What base camps are along the way on your career or practice journey? What (or who) is it you need to make it to your end goal?
Are you currently stuck at a certain step (or basecamp) and aren’t sure how to move forward? Is your initial goal no longer applicable and you need to pivot? Do you need to turn back?
How do formal and informal leadership roles play a role in working towards your Mount Everest?
What gets overlooked in the drive to achieve?
How do we define success — reaching the summit, or making it home?
Pharmaceutical Care Lyceum 2026 Application
Application Due: October 27, 2025
Please email the Lyceum Planning committee at PCareLyceum@gmail.com for more information or to discuss your ideas with us.
You will be notified early December whether your application has been accepted for presentation.
Application and Session Submission Information
The Pharmaceutical Care Lyceum is successful only when all participants are actively engaged, open and prepared to share ideas, challenge current practice, and envision what is possible. This is achieved through discussion-based presentations, active learning groups, and the creation of an environment that is relaxed and allows for creativity.
The Lyceum will consist of selected presentations, activities, and discussions. Because time on the agenda is limited, your session may not be selected for presentation, but you may still be invited to attend and actively engage in the conference as space permits. Sessions are 40 minutes.
You may submit an application as an individual or as a group of up to four members.
Some example activities may include:
Practice Dilemma/ Topic Roundtable: Focus on rich participant dialogue with brief framing presentation
Seminar: Presentation with significant participant engagement; Debate formats; World Café format
Workshop: Task-oriented small group experience, case-based discussions
Fireside Chat: Moderated interactive discussion with 1-4 experts on a provocative or innovative topic
Mindful Activity: Tai chi, yoga, meditation, or journaling, for example
Other: The Lyceum concept encourages creative license! Craft projects, role playing/skits, etc.
Content delivery should account for 50% or less of the time slot allowing for application and active participation for the remainder of the time. Although technology will be available (screen, projector), the use of active learning techniques versus traditional PowerPoint presentations is preferred. An internet connection and adequate speakers are not dependable. We recommend choosing sessions that minimize or eliminate these requirements.
For first time participants, challenge yourselves to think beyond what you currently know and see in pharmaceutical care. For previous attendees, look beyond your current practices and previous experience with the Lyceum discussions and come up with new ideas to share and shape our future.
Conference Format and Logistics
The Pharmaceutical Care Lyceum is not a passive environment. Each attendee is not only encouraged but expected to be engaged and participate. However, the conference will be FUN – as thoughtful dialogue and FUN are not mutually exclusive!
The conference will be held at Osprey Wilds, 54165 Audubon Dr., Sandstone, MN 55072. It’s approximately a 1.5 hour drive from the Twin Cities metro or 1.25 hours from Duluth. Transportation will not be provided; car-pooling is strongly encouraged. Additional information can be found at: https://ospreywilds.org/aboutus/.
Osprey Wilds is a conservation and environmental learning center. The basic accommodations allow time for reflection and a new way of connecting with each other and our environment. Rustic lodging, outdoor activities, meals, and libations are included in the $315 registration fee. There will be ample opportunities to interact socially and enjoy indoor and outdoor activities.
