2016-17

National conference on “An Insight into Analysis and Applications of Mathematics”

Postgraduate and Undergraduate department of mathematics and Trans disciplinary research centre Florida University USA, organised a National Conference on “AN INSIGHT INTO ANALYSIS AND APPLICATIONS OF MATHEMATICS” held on 24/08/2016 at The National College Jayanagar.

1. Dr. Seetharam Iyengar, Distiguished Ryder professor and Director, Florida International University, USA – Inaugurated the program.

2. Prof. Vittal Rao R, Consultant, Department of Electronic Systems Engineering, IISC, Bangalore, - Presented the Keynote address on “A layman’s Introduction to Cryptography”.

3. Dr.B.J Gireesha, Department of Mathematics, Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta, Shimoga – presented a lecture on “Heat Transfer Analysis through Fins.”

4. Dr. B.C Prasannakumar, Department of Mathematics, Government First Grade College, Koppa, Chikamagalur - Presented a lecture on “Mathematical Theory of Boundary Layers and Common errors made in investigation of Boundary Layer Flows.”

5. There are 250 Participants were participated in the conference.

6. Paper Presentation session was also conducted, where around 50 research scholars presented their research work.

2017-18

Seminar on “Math-Mage-Magic-Music”

Postgraduate department of mathematics has conducted seminar on 08/11/2017 regarding “Math-Mage-Magic-Music”. The resource person for the day was Mr. Rhagavendra Bhat. Around 70 students from both post graduate departments of Mathematics and physics were present. The seminar was about music in mathematics. The session was interactive and there was positive response from students.

2018-19

National conference on “Recent Trends and Explorations in Mathematics”

Postgraduate department of mathematics, Karnataka Science and Technology Academy, B V Jagadeesh Science Centre, The National College, Basavanagudi and Trans-disciplinary research centre, Florida University USA organised a National Conference on “Recent Trends and Explorations in Mathematics” on 04/10/2018.

The following resource persons were invited:

• Prof. Dr. I.S Shivakumara, Department of Mathematics, Bangalore University, Bangalore presented a Keynote Address on “Recent Trends and Explorations in Mathematics”.

• Dr. Abhishek Banerjee, Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore delivered a lecture on “Closure Operators in Abelian Categories and Spectral Spaces.”

• Dr. Medha Itagi Huilgol, Department of Mathematics, Bangalore University, Bangalore delivered a talk on “Set Distance in Graphs”.

Paper Presentation session was also conducted where more than 70 research papers were presented on various topics in both pure and applied Mathematics. More than 250 research scholars participated in the conference and the session was interactive. We also received positive response from participants and research scholars.

One-day workshop on “Applications of Mathematics”

Post graduate department of mathematics celebrated “National Mathematics Day” at B.V. Jagadeesh Science center on 28/12/2018. Dr. Abhishek Banerjee, Assistant professor, IISC, Bangalore was an invited speaker and he gave a lecture on Mathematics. Around 100 students were present. Also Research paper presentation competition was conducted by the department, for the postgraduate students of mathematics. Participation certificates and prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest. There was active response from students.

One-day workshop on “Personality characteristics, development and career awareness -How it matters?”

Post Graduate Department of Mathematics conducted a special lecture named “Personality characteristics, development and career awareness - How it matters?” on 08/06/2018. Prof. Nithyananda Bheede, counsellor was an invited speaker of the day. There were around 80 participants from both Postgraduate departments of Mathematics and Physics. Students actively participated and session was more educative. Students were empowered about their career by attending this session.

One-day workshop on “Preparation for NET/KSET and other competitive exams”

Post graduate department of Mathematics organised a one- day workshop about “How to crack NET?” on 19/06/2019. Dr. H.S Boregowda, Assistant Professor, Department of Studies and Research in Mathematics, Tumkur University, Tumkur was invited as a resource person. Around 50 PG students actively participated and the session was interactive.

2019-20

One-day workshop on “Applications of Mathematics”

Post graduate department of Mathematics celebrated “National Mathematics Day” on 23/12/2019 at B.V.Jagadeesh Science centre. Sri Mahidhara Davangere V, Founder and Managing Director of Innovative Academy for Mathematics was invited as a chief guest to give a lecture on Applications of Mathematics. Around 150 students from PUC, UG and PG departments of our college were present. Certificates and medals were distributed by the chief guest to the winners of Research paper presentation competition which was conducted by the department for the postgraduate students of Mathematics. The session was very interesting and participants gave positive feedback about the program.
