Curriculum Structure

The new syllabus of M.Sc Mathematics is designed in an accessible and attractive way. The structure of the syllabus is developed in a manner which caters to the needs of academic research as well as Research & Development in industries.
Here are few best features of the curriculum and teaching methodologies adopted by the department:
  • Every semester students have practical papers, in which they learn programming mathematical problems and techniques using programming languages like Scilab, Maxima, Matlab etc. Students learn Latex and Latex beamer programming too.
  • In every semester students are guided to present seminars on each of the subjects that they study and credits are awarded for the same.
  • Choice Based Credit System has been adopted by the department where in Mathematics students are exposed to other streams in their third semester.
  • Students are grouped and allotted to each faculty of the department for them to guide in presenting research papers in some topics that the students study in their first semester. This is done so that the students can get insights about research avenues available in math domains as well as learn about applications of mathematics in real, industrial and scientific world.
