If a parent disagrees with an evaluation completed by Prince George County Public Schools, they have the right to have their child evaluated by someone not connected to the school district, at public expense. A parent is entitled to only one independent educational evaluation of their child at public expense each time the school division conducts an evaluation of the child with which the parent disagrees. If a parent's request for an IEE is granted, the school district will consider the results of the evaluation, as long as it meets the PGCPS criteria for independent educational evaluations, in any decision made with respect to the provision of a free appropriate public education (FAPE) for the child.
