Menstruation is a healthy and normal bodily cycle. However, it can also be a very uncomfortable experience since having a period is often accompanied with abdominal cramps. If you have period, then you know how painful they can be. Now, imagine that you were bleeding for 1-5 days and you still need to continue with your daily tasks but unfortunately you don't have any period products at all. Some people don't need to imagine this, because they undergo the experience once a month.
Women who don't have access to menstrual products use paper, cloth, or tree leaves as a makeshift product. Some women who can afford products but not enough overuse tampons or pads. The overuse of products and use of unsanitary solutions results in greater health risks to women.
Through our period product drive we are hoping to collect period products to donate. We have partnered with the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission who will distribute the products to menstruating individuals in need. Ultimately, we believe that with your help we can get closer to ending period poverty.
