Jack Plant Memorial Shield
Colts Club Person Of The Year
Jack Plant
Jack came to Penrith Rugby Club having previously played for Western Suburbs. While playing for the Emus he lived locally at Mt Druitt and was regularly named for 2nd grade and also made some 1st grade appearances. On the field, Jack was a tactical player well known for his ability to steal loose ball carries from opposition players.
Jack was a joint founder of the club's Golden Oldies in 1986, continuing his commitment to the Emus. He was also integral to the Oldies' first overseas tour to Toronto, Canada in 1989.
Jack enjoyed being active and keeping fit. Sadly, he passed away in 2000 from a heart attack leaving a hole in the Penrith rugby community. The club wanted to recognise Jack's commitment to Penrith Emus and his role in establishing the Golden Oldies.
In the 2001 season, the Colts Club Person of the Year award became known as the Jack Plant Memorial Shield. The trophy recognises tenacity on the field and dedication to the club which echoes the principles that Jack stood for.
