Throughout my academic journey at Florida International University, I have been driven to learn more about our criminal justice system and the ways in which we can improve it. As someone who is passionate about effective communication and building bridges between different communities, I have strived to improve my Spanish language skills so that I can better serve those in need. As I delved deeper into the complexities of the criminal justice system, I also became fascinated by the field of national security.
Although I encountered some uncertainty and doubt along the way, I never let that hold me back. As Vice President of the Criminal Justice Honor Society (Alpha Phi Sigma), I was honored to serve my community, my fellow schoolmates, and the people who protect them. Through this role, I was fortunate to participate in a variety of events and connect with professionals in the field, including the executive director of Crime Stoppers.
Thanks to the Global Learning Medallion Program, I was able to fully embrace my differences and pursue my passions with confidence. This program provided me with the opportunity to study Spanish through FIU's Spanish Major curriculum, which included advanced communication, grammar, translation, and interpretation. Additionally, my participation in the Intelligence Fellowship has allowed me to advance my career and showcase my dedication to research and studies.
Overall, I am proud of the progress I have made and the contributions I have been able to make to my community and the field of criminal justice. I am excited to see what the future holds and to continue learning and growing along the way.
