A Search for Common Ground

In the fall 2021 semester, Dr. Kristie Smith, working with Professor Erica Warren taught EDCI 6158, a graduate level trends and issues offering. Seeking to facilitate students’ authentic, principled, and critical considerations of trending topics for the middle grades and secondary educational contexts, Smith and Warren facilitated regular conversational exchanges to include students’ production of podcast episodes that shared their critical reflections and lived experiences around issues explored in the course. The episodes shared on this site were created by students in 6158. Ja’Nyah Jefferson’s episode addresses the topic of Civics Education. The episode that is co-created by Andrea Whittlesey-Glaze and Jalin Murphy is about Testing and Accountability.
