We are a grassroots advocacy group that emerged in New York City in the fall of 2022 amid the dismantling of the Division of Early Childhood Education, the privatization of curriculum, and a funding crisis that left many early childhood providers unpaid for months.
From our initial meeting in May of 2023, we evolved into a diverse coalition comprising teachers, instructional coaches, academics, social workers, bilingual interventionists, leaders, and policymakers, working across boundaries to confront inequitable policies and transform local early childhood systems.
Our initiatives include convenings to critique and reimagine commercial scripted curriculum mandates, advocacy that helped expand Pre-K special education seats, and successful campaigns to modify phase-in schedules.
We engage in regular dialogue with the leadership team in the Division of Early Childhood Education.
