Beethoven’s 250th
What do I know about Ludwig Van Beethoven? First up his name. Ha! I’ve already nailed one. Victoria 1 Stupidity 0. Next, I know Beethoven wrote many famous melodies, the famous DUN DUN DUN DUUUUN from either the fifth or ninth symphony (not sure), as well as the famous Ode to Joy melody, and Fur Elise (I cannot figure out how to get the snazzy two dots). I think he was mainly a classical composer, but I’m not sure. Beethoven also went deaf sometime in his life, but he still continued to compose music. Also, someone made a movie about him called Beethoven Lives Upstairs and at one point in the movie he threw a shepards pie at the server because he got the order wrong. I assume he could play organ and piano and he wore those big white wigs. He heavily influence the musical world and his works are still alive today. If it weren’t for the virus and the strikes, P.S.O would be playing his Shepard’s Hymn (I don’t remember the movement numbers).

Journal #6:
Dogs V.S. Cats
To find the answer to history’s most heated debate, we need to reach the heart of the issue, and delve deep into history. The question which had taunted scholars for many centuries still remains unanswered...are dogs or cats superior? To start, we must look at the history of the coexistence between felines and humans.
From the Neolithic Revolution to now, cats have played a pivotal role in our lives, and have left their paw print on human history (see LIFE, The History of The House Cat pg. 19-45). Although cats don’t serve the same purposes they have historically, felines still have a place in the home. Unlike their canine counterparts, cats aren’t fit for servicing humans. However, they are justified by William S. Burroughs statement, “The cat does not offer services. The cat offers itself.” (LIFE, The History of The House Cat pg. 42). As indicated by Burroughs, cats have so much to offer just in themselves, and are still crucial.
As the owner of two thriving Persian cats, my perspective on the matter is rather biased. I believe there are many benefits of the ownership of a feline. One might say that dogs are “man’s best friends”, however cats just have a different way of showing affection for humans. As humans, it is our responsibility to show respect to the feline species.
In conclusion, I am adamant in favouring cats over dogs, however different perspectives are to be expected. Until scholars find a way to satisfy the question that looms over us all, we must accept both opinions.
(Although cats are better)

Dogs or cats? My answer was made up the second I read the title of today’s journal. It’s definitely dogs. Think about it. Cats do NOTHING except for lay around on your bed and walk away from you. They show zero emotion or affection whatsoever. However, dogs can adapt to the people they are around and develop genuine relationships with the owner. Man’s best friend? Dogs. Sorry to all those people out there that like cats, but if we’re all being honest here, dogs are 100% better than cats.

Journal #2: Schrodinger’s Cat.
Well then this is gonna be fun. Mostly because I don’t remember what in the world this is. So as a result I am going to make up some random story about a man named Schrodinger. Enjoy!
Once upon a time there was a man named Shrodinger. In his name there was a fancy thingy over the ‘o’ that looked like two periods ‘..’. Sadly, I don’t know how to make the ‘o’ fancy so this story will have to be about the less fancy version of himself. Shrodinger was a peculiar scientist who owned a cat who helped him perform experiments. Most of these experiments were harmless. However, one day Shrodinger decided he would blast his cat into outer space to see if there were martians on Mars. The cat’s mission was if there were martians he would find out if they were making plans to attack earth. One year later the spaceship came back to earth and Shrodinger was disappointed when his cat came back dead, and without any evidence. Shrodinger had a very long and mellow funeral for the cat and built a statue to put in his lobby of his mansion, so he could always remember the brave little cat who went into space.

Journal #3: Is Tom Thomson Canada’s Greatest Painting Artist?
What does it mean to be a great artist when everyone has different views, likes, and dislikes? Tom Thomson paints amazing and beautiful scenes of different places in Canada then turns it into a colourful masterpiece. Changing the colours of the original objects, like painting a tree blue, or the sea a rainbow of colours. He was very skilled and knew how to make a painting that caught someone’s eye, but what about other artists like Emily Carr? She also made abstract art of the world around her. Both artists have talent so I don’t think I could really say that Tom Thomson was the best painting artist in Canada.

Driverless Cars
No, I would not get in a driverless car. I do not want to danger myself or others by being in something I have no control over. As much as we may try, the human mind will always overpower a machine or robot. We may assure ourselves that this car has been rigorously tested and we are 99% sure it is safe, but like the Titanic, it still poses a risk that could go wrong. Why put yourself or others in a moral dilemma when you could easily avoid it by driving yourself? Personally, if I was riding in a self driving car, I would not enjoy the freedom from driving, I would be white knuckled and very anxious about the fact that I don’t have any control over a potential danger. For people like myself who fear loss of control, a self driving car is not a luxury we would indulge in. I would rather walk.

Dogs vs Cats
If we’re talking about house pets in general, I’d have to go for a Komodo Dragon. I mean, who wouldn’t want a Komodo dragon for a pet. I’d probably name it something ironic like “fluffy” or “I don’t bite” or “Charles” If it’s an animal I would like as a pet in general, I’d go for a leprechaun named Jed. ‘nuff said.
But if I were to, say, look at the question and answer it properly, which we all know I do very often, I’d say neither. Well, I mean, I own a cat and a dog. One of them hides in the darkness under beds and waits for an unsuspecting innocent to walk past him to jump out and claw their feet like it’s a plump mouse. On the other hand, I have one dog who farts way to much, and another dog who has an unknown disease that the vets can’t identify- it’s not contagious - that causes his skin to *mute*. Basically it’s like he’s rotting….
But even if I were to have cute animals that aren’t possessed or rotting, then I’d still not be able to choose. Dogs are more of an outdoor pet, in the sense that you can throw a ball or play tug-a-war. Cats are typically more docile, unless you happen to have one possessed by Satan… anyway, In a real-life scenario, once I broke into the pet store, I’d probably leave with both a cat and a dog.
Maybe a Komodo dragon too.
Oh, and a leprechaun named Jed if they’re in stock.
Look, I made it in under a page!

Dogs vs. Cats by Hannah & Michelle
PROS - DOGS & CATS
Dogs can easily be trained to help in a medical emergency.
Cats are hardy creatures and can make a comeback from the most serious injuries, they are also very independent.
Dogs are extremely loyal, and are known to protect their owners, and their family at any cost.
Despite having an infamous reputation for being moody and stubborn, cats can be trained to be as friendly and as loyal as their canine counterparts.
Being around dogs, starting at a young age helps to make you more resilient to different types of allergies. Also, having a dog in your life helps you to become a more empathetic person.
Cats have been proven to raise dopamine levels in humans.
Dogs have been known to be a domimine booster. Some dogs are trained from birth to become therapy dogs, these dogs help boost people's happiness, and their immune system at the same time.
By, discarding their waste in a box (If they are properly trained so ya better get on that ;) then their waste will be isolated into a singular spot, therefore, making it easier to clean and maintain. You can also purchase odor covering litter to minimize the rancid and vile smell.
Owning a dog encourages exercise, because they need to be taken out regularly for walkies!!!
On average, cats live longer than dogs, though health conditions, breeds, and sizes may alter the lifespan of your companion.
CONS - DOGS & CATS
On average, dogs are sold at a higher price than cats. They are also very expensive to maintain.
Cats can be vicious and are not nearly as tamable as dogs. Cats have been known to scratch and hiss.
Dogs are very loyal and lovable, but certain breeds have been known to be vicious and quite barbaric.
If you let your cat out, it may kill small animals like; small birds, mice and rats, and small lizards.
Unless your dog is potty trained, it will poop on peoples lawn, and you will have to pick it up.
If you are allergic to fur then your cat breed options will be quite limited, as with dogs, there are many breeds you can get that are hypo-allergenic.
Dogs tend to eat more than a cat would, therefore its monthly food cost will most likely be more expensive than a cat's.
Cats can be quite affectionate and attentive, but only up to a point. They tend to become bored or overstimulated much more easily than dogs, and at that point they want to escape for a while.
Some dogs may need regular grooming appointments to make sure their hair doesnt go crazy.
Cats are more likely to run and hide when faced with trouble. On the other hand, most dogs will instinctively protect their owners and their territory. They'll bark or growl to alert you to the presence of strangers, and many will even scare off intruders.
Mandatory vet appointments/ checkup for dogs cost on average around $100-$300 depending on his/her breed, size, age, and any medical conditions that they have. Whereas veterinary appointments for cats cost around $50-$100.
Cats have a sandpaper-like tongue that clings onto hair, so when they groom themselves, they sometimes tend to… eat their hair. And because their stomachs can’t properly digest these big clumps of fur, they throw it all back up. These are called hairballs, which are extremely gross!

Cats or Dogs.
Some people will be nice and say Oh I love cats and dogs equally, but we all know the real answer. Cats. Any sane person can see that cats are a companion, not a pet, as they require next to no work. They poop in a box and cover it, bathe themselves and sleep a lot. If you own a cat, all you have to do is scoop some waste and give it some food. Cats can be indoor or outdoor and adapt to your needs. For example, an elderly person’s cat could be kept inside and sleep a lot, while the kitten of a young child can play and need attention.
Cat’s are the pinnacle of God’s animal creation. I bet he was thinking; “The world is fallen so here is a creature that gets as close to perfect as anything.” And to be honest, I have no idea what God was thinking when he made dogs. Why dip so low after that impossible high? I don’t hate dogs, but why settle when you can have perfection. Dogs require work and responsibility, you must bathe them and walk them and you can’t enjoy a stroll through the yard without stepping in poop. Cats can be left alone while you go on vacation but a dog can’t survive more than a trip to the grocery store without losing it’s mind trying to get outside to chase a squirrel. Dogs are barky and yappy, slobbery and can be very stupid. It’s 1AM, we know there’s some animal outside, we are not in danger. STOP BARKING cause you are waking up the entire neighbourhood! Cats also cost less vet bills because they always land on their feet and are not eating moldy chicken out of the garbage or getting sprayed by skunks.
Dogs also are just too friendly, OMG you scratched my ear! I LOVE YOU! It’s not an accomplishment getting one to like you. If you got my cat Trinity to like you, boy you are a saint. But cats are like therapists, if you are feeling ill or upset, the cat just appears, ready to sit and bathe your face until the tears have dried.
Cats are not mean, they just know what they want. Always. They lower their expectations for no one and for the best seat in the house, you’ll have to move the cat. In 2019, a friend's dog came to stay with us and Trinity (our three-legged moody female cat) could not believe we let a D-O-G into the house. She couldn’t even tolerate something so far below her. The dog tried to work it’s way into our heart, but Trin would have none of it. She swiped the dog on the nose, so we had to send it back to its owner.
So in the end, thank you for listening. There’s no wonder cats were worshipped by ancient Egyptian. All those sayings are true, one can never have too many cats. Dogs have masters, cats have staff, because who wouldn’t want to serve an angel with soft paws, sweet whiskers and beautiful, clean fur. So I rest my case. Cats are purrfection.

Dogs or Cats

When you adopt a furry companion, what are you looking for? Probably love and friendship, or even to have a good time. Cats can be bored very easily and often like to scratch at your curtains. Dogs will never do that, plus, dogs tend to protect and defend you. With cats, they tend to hide and hiss. Dogs will forever be superior to cats. Dogs are friendly and loyal whereas cats hiss and bite at you. Dogs will give you unlimited affection while with cats, it’s very hard to earn their trust and friendship. Dogs also tend to live a more active lifestyle therefore if being active was on your New Year's resolution, dogs will push you to become a better person. You can also teach dogs lots of fun tricks, compared to cats who just stare at you from a distance.

Cats or dogs, what a question.
This has been debated for years, but I am here today to show you the true superior animal. The cat. There are many different types of cats and they all have different personalities. It is the same with dogs. Most likely whichever pet you have or have had is your favourite and you believe it is the best. But there are many people with bad experiences with both animals. For example I’ve heard many stories of people who have been scratched or bit by cats. But from personal experience dogs are much more ferocious. For example, when I was about six my aunt and uncle had had their Sheba Inu for a few years and I had never really gone near him. (I say the dog breed because they are known to be kind of mean.) Anyways my family and I were down at their cottage and the dog was there, I never touched him and never did anything to or with him. Yet he would often corner me and bark till I was crying and shaking or till my uncle came. This happened multiple times and the worst one was when it was just him and I and he was tied to a pole and barking and snarling at me. It was terrible, I was crying, shaking and screaming for anyone to come. The dog's leash was just short enough so he couldn’t come get me. Luckily after a few minutes my uncle heard me and calmed the dog down. One more experience that happened a few months later and combined with the other one has me forever scared of a dog's bark, happened at the same uncle's friend's house. My cousins were doing the polar bear dive, (it’s where you jump into freezing water I think) so most of the family was there and we were using a neighbor's pool. Those neighbourhoods had a chocolate lab, when this happened he might have just been trying to lick my face, but note I was maybe five and when a dog half your size jumps on you you're going to start crying. So that’s what I did and it was the worst day ever.
Anywho, dog people often say that cats are so mean. So are dogs but when dogs are mad they can hurt you quite severely. Whilst cats just give you a scratch or a bit. And when cats let you love them it is the best feeling in the world, dogs “always love you”. When cats choose to follow you or love you, you feel amazing. Also cats aren’t high maintenance, all you need to do is every few days change their litter box (which isn’t that bad) and give them food and water. That’s it. But also if you have a long haired cat you might need to wash them like once a year. With dogs they need haircuts and to be bathed I think like once a month. They need to be walked and constantly need attention. Cats are like another child, provide them with the necessaries of life and they will just live. They are nocturnal so they sleep all day and walk around at night. One downside to cats being nocturnal is the fact that, at least with my cat, at usually two or three am they will get up and meow for food. But that is easily dealt with. There are indoor and outdoor cats, some that stay inside all day and night and are usually always sleeping and playful outdoor cats that every once in a while will bring home a dead bird or mouse as a gift. One last thing is that you can tell a cat's personality in a few minutes, so if you want a playful cat it’s easy to find if you want one that is there for emotional support you got it. So there are my reasons why cats are much better than dogs.(but of course this all depends on what you want and what your lifestyle is). Sorry for how long it is.

The debate on cats and dogs is a very common debate. I find that in my opinion dogs are superior to cats for many reasons. Reason one dogs are used to help medical emergencies such as blood sugar and mental illness for they rise the dopamine levels in ones body. Dogs should not be left alone for long periods of time (cats can) but that only means they care about you and want to be around you making them social. Dogs yes can be vicious if not trained but so can cats. I find that cats are less social and can care less if you are around them or not making them not appreciate your presence. Dogs can be easily trained to do what you want it’s just the process of training that cat people focus on and put all their negatives on. That is why I think dogs are superior to cats.

Dogs vs Cats
In my opinion, Dogs are better than Cats. Dogs are better because of many reasons such as, if you want to cuddle with them they will not scratch your face. Dogs can also sense if you are happy or sad, and if you are sad they will try to make you happy. If you had a cat, it would simply look at you, meow then walk away. If your dog was laying down minding its own business, and you wanted to pick it up and bring it to where you want to sit they would let you. But if you had a cat, and said cat was in its jungle gym and you were trying to take it to where you wanted it to be, the cat would hold on for dear life and would NOT let you spend some quality time with it. Dogs are also very playful, they love to run around, and will play fetch. Cats on the other hand, the most active thing they do is jump from counter to counter. Cats will do whatever it takes to not socialize with you.
Now it comes down to my last argument. Dogs will protect you. Dogs can sense if the situation you are in is dangerous, and they will do whatever it takes to keep you safe. Cats will not because they only care for themselves and whether they are comfy or not. One more thing, dogs are VERY cute.

Cats Or Dogs
I would pick dogs because dogs are peaceful animals and cats are sometimes nice but other cats are just grumpy. Cats often scratch your face or bite your fingers. Dogs just want to play all the time well, other than my dog Frankie he just wants to sleep all of the time. Dogs are more expensive than cats because more people want to buy dogs because they are better and fun to play catch with. Cats don’t do that stuff, cats just walk around not wanting anyone to pet them. Dogs can sense your emotions. If you’re sad they will go over to you and cuddle with you. Cats on the other hand, if you’re having a bad day they don’t care. Dogs are also softer than cats in my opinion.
