Musculoskeletal Cadaveric Anatomy & Functional Mechanics
Main Goal of the Workshop:
To provide an advanced review of relevant anatomical structures in the cadaveric laboratory for trained health & exercise professionals, as well as a framework of functional biomechanics to help strengthen exercise and rehabilitation practices. This opportunity to visit (or revisit) the anatomy lab will provide an environment in which to delve into a deeper, more applied review of the intricacies of human structure and function.
Basic Agenda:
Morning (8:30-12:15)
Review of lumbar spine & LE soft tissue components, compartments & neurovasculature in lab. (2.5hrs)
Mini-Lecture-Myths & truths of stretching; PFPS & the mystery of the vastus medialis oblique (1hr)
Afternoon (1:30-5:30)
Review of cervical spine & UE soft tissue components, compartments & neurovasculature in lab. (2.5hrs)
Mini-Lecture-How does force-couple, coupled movement and functional arthrokinematics in the body influence movement-based work? (1hr)
Musculoskeletal Joint Mechanics & Function
Main Goal of the Workshop:
To provide an active learning environment where review of either the Lower Extremity (IIA) or Upper Extremity (IIB) functional mechanics is provided. Trained health & exercise professionals can look forward to an exploration of detailed mechanics of each joint of the respective limb, using bones and models in a guided learning workshop. Key discussions of assumptions for exercise and rehabilitation practices will be presented, using anatomy & biomechanics to 'bust myths' in these realms.
