Trauma Care Resources
There is a wide range of opinions on how to address the impact of trauma on displaced people as well as how to care for those who work with them. Below are some materials from a variety of sources. Our inclusion of these materials does not imply any endorsement by the collaborators of this project. However, our hope is that you find the materials that are most helpful for you and your community.
Mission: Trauma Healing
Trauma Healing Institute (THI) stewards the Healing the Wounds of Trauma program and supports global trauma healing. Healing the Wounds of Trauma books are available featuring refugee stories, in teen contexts, in a multitude of languages, and will soon be available for a Muslim context.
Helping Communities Heal: Refugees
This Crisis Response Curriculum was developed by David C. Cook for organisations working with refugee children. It is designed to help parents and/or volunteers who serve refugee children with the trauma they have experienced. See sample below.
Refugee Worker Training Day - This day course is offered by Redcliffe College to help organisations care for their teams and build resilience for their refugee ministry.
The Journey - This is a 5-session interactive course from Life Transitions Refugee for those who have been displaced due to war and persecution. It is designed to promote participants' emotional wellbeing and build their resilience.
