Case managers at any service agency can also provide more info on how to access bus passes and may pay for a monthly pass. If you are on any social service programs like SNAP EBT, OHP, TANF, SSI/SSDI, etc, you qualify for a reduced fare (Honored Citizen) pass. Disabled people automatically qualify for HC fare, but may be required to provide medical documentation.
In the event of an emergency, core service providers like Outside In and NAFY may cover cab fare or a Lyft/Uber. (Usually they would rather call an ambulance for medical emergencies, though, and staff have done so many times).
For medical appointments, you may qualify for Ride to Care if you have OHP. Staff at most services can help set this up. It has to be done over the phone, and at least 72 hours in advance. A NEMT (non-emergency medical transportation) company will pick you up at the location you give them and drop you off at the location of your appointment. They will then pick you up when your appointment is finished and bring you back to the location given at setup. Ride to Care can also pay for bus fare if you have enough appointments in a month.
