A native of Portland, OR, John Kim is highly-active in the music community as an instrument maker, freelance performer, recording artist, educator and clinician. While completing his studies at Portland State University, under the tutelage of Professor Gerald Webster, John served in the role of Associate Director of Music at Skyview High School (Vancouver, WA). He would later join the staff of David G. Monette Corporation; the world’s premiere maker of custom trumpets.

John has performed as an orchestra member with Portland Center Stage, Bach Cantata Choir, Bravo! Northwest Concert Series, Willamette Master Chorus, Oregon Sinfonietta, and has also appeared as an extra with the Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera, Portland Festival Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Portland Columbia Symphony, and Newport Symphony.
