Arriving at Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is located north-west of Dublin, with more than 55 airlines flying to over 190 destinations with a large majority of low-cost, budget airlines. There are two terminals in Dublin Airport (1 & 2). The UCD is located around 25 minutes (car/taxi) or around 1h (Bus) away from the airport.
Public Transport
Transport For Ireland (TFI) is the main public transport company for travel around Dublin. You can use the Live App to navigate through Dublin using a combination of the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit), Dublin Bus, LUAS (Tramway) and links.
If you are planning on taking public transport multiple times, you are advised to purchase a Visitor Leap Card either online or from selected agents in Dublin, many of which are located within Dublin Airport’s Arrivals Terminal.
If you are planning to take the Bus to come from the Airport to UCD note that you can take the aircoach 700 (11 €, no change, paiement at the airport). Bus 700 goes from Airport Station to UCD, more information can be found here.
Another way to come is to take 2 Buses for 2.50 € (paiement by cash only or leap card recharge). First Bus is bus n° 19 from Dublin Airport T1 to bus stop 320 Westmoreland Street, then bus 39A, E1 and E2 will take you directly to UCD!
Taxi Service
There is a large number of taxi services available in the city centre. Taxis from the airport to UCD are readily available outside of both arrival halls (1 & 2). A taxi from the airport to UCD should cost approximately €35-€50, from UCD to the city centre approximately €18-€26. Before taking any taxi, please check if the taxi license is displayed on the dashboard.
Please take into account that not all taxis take cash, and some do not accept credit/debit card payments. It is recommended to download a taxi operating application such as Uber or FreeNow. Please note that FreeNow is more widely used than Uber in Dublin and can be more efficient.
Car Rental Service
You can find car hire firms in the main arrivals area in both Terminals 1 & 2 of Dublin Airport. Free parking spaces will be available for hotel guests at the Talbot Hotel, there is a visitor paying parking in UCD. Parking inside Dublin city centre is quite difficult, however having a car can lead you to go outside the County and visit.
VISA information
Please note that Ireland is NOT in Schengen space, If you have a Schengen visa it would not apply to Ireland, you will need a special VISA to come if your country doesn't have any agreement with Ireland.
