• Animals surrendered to Paws and Tails will be quarantined as needed, taken to the vet, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, assessed and socialized before they will be ready for adoption. 

• Remember we cannot guarantee that we can take every animal offered to us for surrender. We only take what we can handle. 

• Please do not contact our organization if you are not truly ready to give up your pet. We work very hard to find a wonderful foster who can take time off work and away from other things to take care of your surrendered animal. Especially on short notice.

• If you are contacting us for surrender, you are looking to have us rehome the animal and not you rehoming the animal yourself. If you have friends looking to adopt the animal, we are happy to vet their application and consider them for the animal after it is surrendered and rehabbed with our organization. We cannot guarantee who the adopter will be.​

• We appreciate all those who adopt, foster and volunteer for us as well as those who recognize that surrendering their animal is the best chance for its future.

Beware of Kijiji animals and help abandoned animals left outdoors

• Please highly consider the repercussions of rehoming animals via Kijiji and other online platforms. We have seen what can happen and often times the animals go to scammers, flippers or dog fighters without your knowledge. We have received animals previously purchased off sites like Kijiji on death's door and some of those animals do not make it or are too sick to be rehabilitated.

• Please note if you are purchasing a pet and the breeder does not have a waiting list,  vaccination and rabies  and spay or neuter plans or certificate, application process, genetic testing, health guarantee, training support, parents on site, etc. they are NOT responsible. They should also be registered, and usually have a website or Facebook page, not just a Kijiji ad. You should always ask for references from the breeder and they should always be willing to take the dog or cat back in the future no matter what.

• ​While we always believe adopting an animal is great, we ask that if you choose to purchase one you do so responsibly and do your home work. Like our rescue if you choose a breeder, they should stand by you and help you every step of the way and you become part of their family. Just like when you adopt from us you become Paws and Tails family.

• There are so many animals in rescues it is best to adopt or foster an animal rather than buying an animal.

• We are also seeing more abandoned animals outdoors. Contact a rescue organization to help trap and get the animal indoors out of the elements and keep them safe from cars, coyotes, hawks, unvaccinated and unaltered animals. We are seeing an increase in kittens born outdoors in the elements and this is no place for a pregnant mother nor baby kittens. Let's get them safe inside with fresh food and water.
