Below are some resources for planning your walk and collecting the information you want to include in your walking map.

While this project's focus is adding walks to walkingmaps.com.au, you may like to explore or expand your ideas to other platforms or formats.
See also below and the section about using google my maps for other purposes.
Our suggestion is a 3km/1 hour loop.
If you have a longer walk in mind, you might make multiple shorter routes or focus on a particular part of the walk only. Or pitch to those keen to walk further or harder!
What makes this walk special?
What would you like to help visitors to see/explore/find out along your walk?
Have you got a particular audience in mind - dog walkers, families, nearby residents, etc.
Which elements will you draw attention to?
Will you use text or photos or both?
Consider links as well (see 'extra info' below)
Are your notes seasonal or will you have elements that apply year-around?
Mention the land manager, such as Parklands Albury Wodonga (and/or Friends and other groups who care for or contribute this place)
Relevant websites, podcasts, articles that provide further detail
Reference materials, for example:
Albury Wodonga Garden Guide, local flora and fauna guides, Along the Bush Tracks, Bush Invaders (weeds guide), Bush track explorers videos, Hume and Hovell trail audio stories, Parklands nature notes or place webpages.
Perhaps link/mention Atlas of Living Australia or citizen science platforms for which species are known here/how to log those you see?
Bird call recordings to help with identifying what you hear: graemechapman.com.au/library/sounds.php
A bird call sound track to inspire your walk: youtube.com/watch?v=tjGfbuZP2BM
Book to read - 'Where song began' by Tim Lowe.
Fun! ... Bet you have lots more to add
How will you gather your information?
Will you collaborate with others (and how)?
What would you like to learn?
What assistance would you like to request from Karen?

Are you keen to share ideas (and maps) with others in this project?
How can we learn from each other and foster enthusiasm - perhaps an ongoing group of "mappers" for those keen to make more than one map?
We hope that by sharing new maps, we'll create further interest for others to create and add their maps too.
Consider using your content for additional purposes and/or to promote your walk, e.g.:
social media posts
newsletter or website article
a handout at a (guided) walk event
record and share change over time
