OFFSHOOTS OF PAUSE:
The Buy Local Grow Local website, which is an offshoot of PAUSE, has resources for growing and buying locally, with a directory that is devoted to a free promotion of businesses or organizations that are sustainable or socially responsible. BLGL is your go-to place for finding sustainable local businesses, and for supporting local agriculture, including in your own back yard.
Zero Waste Capital District, another offshoot of PAUSE, is a coalition of organizations in the Capital Region focused on education and outreach about the importance of reducing waste. This website contains resources, ideas and information on ways to reduce waste, protect our environment and health, and lower our carbon footprint.
SHARE is a coalition of community, faith, environmental justice and climate action groups whose mission is to stop the proposed Sheridan Hollow fossil fuel power plant that would burn fracked gas in two large turbines to generate both electricity and heat for the Empire State Plaza (accomplished!), and to redirect the state funds dedicated to this project toward a renewable energy solution (partially done!).
Community Choice Aggregation: Since November 2017, Capital District Community Energy has been organizing and advocating for the establishment of a region wide Community Choice Aggregation to allow municipalities in the Capital District to purchase clean affordable energy for their residents.
Divest NY led the successful campaign to divest New York City's five pensions of fossil fuels in 2018 and to divest the NYS Common Retirement fund in 2020. We are now working to have the NYS Teachers Retirement System also divest of fossil fuel investments.
PARTNERS OF PAUSE:
350.org: PAUSE is the Capital District representative of 350.org, which is an international movement of ordinary people working to end the age of fossil fuels and build a world of community-led renewable energy for all. The climate crisis is not just an environmental issue, or a social justice issue, or an economic issue — it’s all of those things at once. The only way we will be strong enough to put pressure on governments and stand up to the fossil fuel industry is if we all work together.
NY Renews: The coalition members of NY Renews includes labor unions, community groups, environmental organizations, faith communities, environmental justice advocates. A version of our first bill, the Climate and Community Protection Act (CCPA), was passed as the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). Now, we’re working on implementing the law and passing the Climate and Community Investment Act (CCIA), a Just Transition bill paid for by a polluter penalty.
Save the Pine Bush: Save the Pine Bush is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to saving the Albany Pine Bush and Karner Blue habitat in New York State, a globally rare ecosystem in New York State. We stop developers by suing the government using environmental laws.
Divest NY Teachers: We are teachers, climate activists and students who demand that the NYS Teachers Retirement System (NYSTRS) stop funding climate destruction and divest from fossil fuels. We are a committee of Divest NY, who led the successful campaign to divest New York City's five pensions.

The Green Sanctuary Team of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Albany has been a long-time partner and helping hand to PAUSE efforts and initiatives. Members are involved in PAUSE, the Sheridan Hollow Alliance for Renewable Energy, and in Buy Local Grow Local. GSC holds many Forums on the environment, which are open to the public.
Stop the Money Pipeline: If we stop the flow of money, we can stop the flow of oil. The Stop the Money Pipeline coalition is over 130 organizations strong. Together we are holding the financial backers of climate chaos accountable.
Capital Region Earth Day: April 22 has become the largest secular observance in the world. Its a day when countries all over the world focus on protecting the environment and making the world a happier, healthier place to live.
CASE was formed in February of 2018. CASE grew out of Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline (SNYFGP), which was formed in the Spring of 2014 to stop Kinder Morgan’s Northeast Energy Direct Gas Pipeline. When the company withdrew its application in May of 2016 SNYFGP decided to continue to help other area fights against fossil fuel infrastructure and to create CASE to promote Renewable Energy. Since then CASE has organized many annual Renewable Energy Fairs and community educational forums and puts out a newsletter about environmental issues in our area.
