This is a 3 day week so I'm going to concentrate mainly on Oral Language activities and hopefully everyone will enjoy the work laid out. As always please just do whatever you and your child feels able for.
A small favour first, Can you please put a packet of cheap spaghetti and marshmallows on your shopping list. We have a STEM challenge on Friday to build something using both these materials!
Don't forget about the school hubs on TG4 and RTE 2 and try to watch a few cartoons in Irish please.

Literacy. ...... Lets Log in to the Gill website and select Unit 5 and then select Oral Language and Interactive Resources. Please select the Poster and Explore Mode today.
Look at all the little circles under the picture please. This is what they all do!
Click on the magnifying glass with the plus sign to really focus in on part of the picture. The magnifying glass with the minus sign brings it back to normal. The next one has a little torch and the children will enjoy zooming in around the picture. Then there is one with a pencil and a ruler. This allows then 'write' on the poster. The next one is fantastic. It has a picture of an eye and when they click on this they can play I spy! Just click on each number. Lastly click on the question mark circle to answer all 10 questions on this poster.
Ye are probably sick of me going on about the five W's but they are so important in Junior Infants. Here 90 second video to remind the children of them.
Listen to the Interactive poem a few times and encourage your child to join in and make up the actions. Then do all the other activities in this section please.

Literacy ...... Back to the Gill Website and again Unit 5 Oral Language and Interactive Resources. Please open up the Poster again. Today we are going to do a sensory exploration of the picture. Ask the children to look very carefully at the poster and to use their five senses. What can they see and hear in the picture? What smells might they fine? What could they taste? What things would be nice to touch and what wouldn't! Now look at the characters? What are they saying to each other? What might they be thinking?
Play some of the games in this section again if you want!
Now can you return to the main menu please and select Genre Story Reader eBook.Ella's adventures in Africa Have a quick flick through all the pictures. have a chat about them? Use the 5 w's.... What do they think the story might be about? Who are the characters? Where is it set? When is the story taking place.... then please click on the green play buttons at the top of each page so your child can listen to the story being read.. The children can just listen to it for fun today. They might even like to listen to it a few times.
After reading it can they please draw their favourite and animal please and write the names underneath?
A dice game! discuss some actions and write them quickly down for example throw a 1 -jump, throw a 2 - hop on one leg, throw a 3- lie on the floor, throw a four go under the table, throw a 5 do a star jump, throw a 6 - give some a hug! They can of course make up whatever activities they want for each number!
Literacy...... Back to Gill and Oral Language and Interactive Resources. Please select the Interactive Nursery Rhyme again today please. Ask your child to say the poem again today but this time to clap it while saying it. They might also like to tap their foot or click their fingers while saying it.
Here is an activity they love doing at school. Say the poem in a cross voice, a spooky voice, a quiet voice, a very posh voice ....they will suggest loads more voices to you.
Next can you think of as many words as you can to describe a monkey( funny, cheeky, naughty, hairy, cute etc) Now some words to describe a crocodile? what describing words did the poet use in the poem..... tall, long, big, strong.
Now a lovely funny story about lots of differnt fruits. We have read this story a few times at school. Firstly ask your child to think of as many differnt fruits as they can!!

I love this story. its all about a little fruit bat who gets lost. It is read beautigully here and the illustrations are wonderful.

Role Play ........set up a market.... you could sell vegetables, shoes, paintings, porrtery, baked goods! how are you going to lay everything out? Will you be able to take orders for next week. Have you given everything a price tag? Have you got some samples for people to taste?

Can you build a market stall and a canopy to cover the stall?
Can you build a vehicle to take goods to and from the market?
Art.... Make and decoratesome animal masks for the craft stall
Use paint and cotton wool buds to try out the pointillism technique
Why not try this with green and pink and make a Spring blossom tree
Use fruit and veg to create some prints. Potatos, apples, carrots are all great for this
Sensory Play ...... wash some potatoes, apples, and other fruits ..... maybe with some adult supervision your child could peel some potatoes or learn how to chop a banana into slices
Small world ...... Using your toy figures, cars etc to set up a market, Make some playdough fruit and veg, load up some toy animals to bring goods to the market
