Coaching for Educators
I have a passion for the field of education. I spent nearly thirty years as a teacher and then a counselor - and most of them were very good. Unfortunately, many teachers today are stressed, burnt out, feeling unappreciated, and leaving the profession in large numbers. As a coach who formally worked in schools, I enjoy taking on educators as clients. So what can working with a coach provide an educator? Read on...
An experienced and unbiased adult to share concerns, challenges, and struggles with
A safe place to express yourself without the fear of being judged
A time for you to decompress and alleviate stress
A professional with experience in education who understands your situation
A professional with experience in education who will ask you the right questions to help self-reflect and set goals for the future
A thought partner to share ideas with
An individual who will be open and honest with you
An accountability partner to help you with your progress
Someone to empathize with you
Someone to motivate and encourage you
Someone to help you grow personally and professionally
A partner to help you navigate the challenges of life, work, school, etc. and find the needed balance to be successful
The greatest outcome from working consistently with a coach or mentor is that educators will experience a revival within themselves and their students will reap the benefits. This work will also help position schools and districts to better support and address the social and emotional learning needs of all students. As a result, educators and students will experience growth and achievement.
If you are an educator reading this, I encourage you to reach out to school and district leaders to inquire about coaching and mentoring services. If you are a school or district leader, I encourage you to begin, or strengthen, coaching and/or mentoring services for your educators, and to seek the same services for yourself...
