Shaping and Interpreting Wave-Material Interactions
About Us
We are interested in understanding and harnessing wave-material interactions, specifically, how waves propagate through, scatter from, and are shaped by materials and structures. Our research explores both sides of this interaction: shaping materials and structures to achieve desired wave behavior, and interpreting waves to uncover information about materials, objects, and environments.
Our work brings together wave physics, engineered materials, and wave intelligence to address problems spanning material design, perception, and characterization. We combine computational modeling, controlled experiments, and data-driven learning, allowing ideas to move from fundamental understanding to physical realization and experimental validation.
These efforts support the development of materials that can guide, filter, or mitigate vibrations in aerospace structures, nondestructive evaluation of aircraft components, and wave-based sensing and perception in challenging operational environments such as flight and underwater systems.
