Through hands-on activities, demonstrations, and conversations, we aim to make science and engineering more accessible, encourage curiosity, and share the excitement of discovery with students beyond the university.

Exploring Engineering with High-School Students
Through the University of Illinois WYSE Exploring MechSE summer camps (2018 and 2019), Ganesh worked with high school students to explore mechanical engineering through hands-on activities and design challenges. In one program, a group of 32 students worked alongside graduate mentors to build a 3D printer while learning fundamental engineering concepts and experiencing how engineers approach real-world problems. These activities were designed to show students that engineering goes beyond equations - combining curiosity, creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving.
Engineering through Sports
As part of a science outreach activity for students in grades 3-8 (2018 Illini Women’s Basketball Camp), Ganesh helped introduce young basketball players to polymers, mechanical testing, and engineering design through an activity inspired by the structure and mechanics of athletic shoe soles. Acoustics at the University of Illinois Student Chapter
At the University of Illinois, Ganesh led the establishment of a student chapter centered on acoustics research, bringing together researchers from engineering, linguistics, and speech communication across career stages, from undergraduate students to postdoctoral researchers. The chapter was affiliated with the Acoustical Society of America and provided a forum for interdisciplinary interaction through invited seminars, research discussions, and other community activities.
