Learning Experiences

Learning by Doing

As a TA for TAM 212, Ganesh worked with students on a hands-on project to design and build a ping-pong ball launcher. The project brought concepts from rigid-body dynamics to life: students experimentally characterized drag, numerically solved initial-value problems, and translated their analytical models into a physical launching device. The open-ended nature of the project gave students room to experiment, iterate, and have some fun along the way. In the video, students from the Spring 2019 class put their design to the test - and hit the target!
