Ganesh joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay as a faculty member in September 2026. Prior to joining IIT Bombay, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was also selected as a 2025 Postdoctoral Affiliate of the Michigan Institute for Data and AI in Society (MIDAS). His research interests lie at the intersection of wave mechanics, engineered materials, sensing, and data-driven methods, with a focus on understanding, shaping, and interpreting wave-material interactions. His research and teaching have received several recognitions, including the 2026 Empowering Research with AI Award from the AI Institute at Michigan, the 2024 USNC/TAM 5-Minute Thesis (5MT) PhD Thesis in Mechanics Competition Award from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and Best Paper Awards from the Acoustical Society of America in 2020 and 2022. His teaching has been recognized through the Mavis Future Faculty Fellowship, MechSE Teaching Fellowship, and James O. Smith TAM Teaching Assistant Award. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, Ganesh spent three years in industrial research at Bajaj Auto Ltd., Pune, working on problems in vibration and durability. He is also a recipient of the Lord Reay and Dadabhoy Naoroji Gold Medals from VJTI.
