Welcome to Beacon: GPS Location Alarm (“Beacon,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), published by Pastelfiya (Package Name: com.pastelfiya.beacon). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the data collected through your use of the Beacon Android application.
This Privacy Policy explains how information about you is collected, used, and disclosed when you use our mobile application.
A. Location Data (Foreground and Background)
Precise and Approximate Location: To deliver core functionality—specifically, calculating your proximity to saved locations and triggering audio, vibration, and notification alarms upon arrival—Beacon accesses your device’s precise GPS coordinates (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) and approximate network-based location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).
Background Location Access: If granted permission (ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION), Beacon accesses your device’s location in the background via a foreground service (BeaconService) while the app is closed, minimized, or when your screen is locked. This enables active geofence monitoring and real-time arrival alerts.
Non-Advertising Location Use: Your location data is used strictly to trigger saved alarms on your device. Location data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising purposes.
B. Search and Mapping Data
When you search for places or addresses using the search bar, queries are sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim API and rendered via the Google Maps SDK to convert search terms into geographic coordinates.
C. Device and Usage Information
Advertising Identifiers: Third-party advertising partners (Google AdMob) may collect unique device identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID), IP addresses, and generalized usage metrics to serve contextual or personalized advertisements.
App Diagnostics: Standard technical parameters (device model, Android OS version, app crashes) are used locally for maintenance and performance optimization.
D. Shared Alarm Data (Deep Links)
When you import or export location alarms using deep links (beacon://share or web links), geofence data (landmark names, coordinates, radius, and schedules) is encoded locally into standard URL strings. Beacon does not store or analyze these shared payloads on external servers.
We use the information collected solely to:
Monitor active geofence boundaries and play synthesized sound alerts and vibrations upon arrival.
Display maps, pins, and custom alert radiuses.
Process place search requests.
Display advertisements via Google AdMob to support ongoing development.
Maintain a persistent foreground notification informing you that location tracking is running.
Beacon integrates trusted third-party SDKs that process data under their respective privacy policies:
Google Play Services & Google Maps SDK: For map rendering and geolocational features.
Google AdMob: For displaying ads within the app.
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): For address lookups and reverse geocoding.
Local Storage: All saved bookmarks, custom alert radiuses, schedules, notes, and app settings are stored locally on your device using an encrypted SQLite database (Room).
Ephemeral Processing: Live location coordinates evaluated during background tracking are processed temporarily in system memory and are not permanently recorded or uploaded to external servers.
Revoking Location Access: You can modify or revoke location permissions at any time via your device settings (Settings > Apps > Beacon > Permissions). Disabling location permissions will prevent the app from monitoring geofences or triggering alarms.
Opting Out of Personalized Ads: You can reset or opt out of personalized ad tracking on your Android device by navigating to Settings > Privacy > Ads.
Data Deletion: Deleting a saved bookmark in the app removes it permanently from your device storage. Uninstalling Beacon removes all associated local database records and settings.
Beacon is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take immediate corrective measures.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected within the app's Settings screen with an updated "Effective Date."
