WELCOME TO SENIOR WEEKEND '23!
Senior Weekend (SW) is an all-expenses paid 4-day 3-night weekend trip introducing recent admits to the University of California, Berkeley, primarily serving to students who are people of color, first-generation, and low income. This event is held in partnership with the bridges coalition, the seven Recruitment and Retention centers (RRC) and under bridges . Learn more about us by clicking here.
THIS YEAR'S PASS SENIOR WEEKEND THEME IS...
Ang Ating Kakayahan!
Our theme for this year's Senior Weekend is "Ang Ating Kakayahan," which means "Our Collective Power" in Tagalog. The theme is chosen to honor the incoming class of 2027 and to celebrate their incredible achievements and resilience. Despite facing various challenges, including the sudden shift to online learning due to the pandemic and then transitioning back to in-person instruction, they have demonstrated incredible strength and perseverance. It is through their own power and ability that they have been able to overcome these obstacles and succeed.
In welcoming them to UC Berkeley, we want them to know that they are now part of the Pilipinx Community, and that their success is our success and vice versa. We want to emphasize that the progress we make is a result of the collective care and bond we share as a community. We are excited to share this space with the newly admitted students and to continue building a supportive and empowering community together.
MXNTORSHIP
Through our mxntorship program, we offer community members the opportunity to mxntor students throughout the weekend. We will assign each mxntor a pamilya, consisting of around two mxntors and two students each. As a kapatid (mxntor), you will act as a resource to your (SW)adings (mxntee), providing insight on higher education.

HOSTING
As a Homie (host), you are responsible for accommodating students to sleep in your residence from Thursday, April 20th to Sunday April 23rd. Additionally, you must escort them to the morning events planned in the program itinerary (you can leave after checking them and yourself in) and pick them up for the night. Mxntees are expected to bring their own sleeping bags, so there is no need to worry about beds. You will pick up your mxntee(s) for the first night at approximately 11 PM on Thursday, April 20th.
