Welcome to my personal academic webpage! Great that you have found your way here.
I am a Swiss PostDoc in Strategy at the University of Zurich with a PhD in Business & Economics (graduation: 2023). In fall 2024, I joined Dartmouth, Tuck School of Business as a visiting scholar at the invitation of Pino Audia and Hart Posen. Currently, I am at HEC Paris as a visiting fellow.
I take on a behavioral approach to strategy and corporate governance, focusing on the social and cognitive forces of top-level decision-makers and their impacts on organizations. Theoretically, my work is grounded in the Carnegie School perspective of decision-making: I aim to open the black box of the organization by shifting focus from the organization as a unitary actor to the individuals and groups—executive teams and boards of directors—and how cognitive and social factors affect their information processing. I specifically investigate:
Appointment decisions in the boardroom and c-suite - such as CEO succession, CEO dismissal, and director appointments;
Strategic decisions of boards and executives - such as M&A, investment choices, and R&D investments and correponding outcomes.
In my work, I predominantly rely on quantitative methods with a focus on causal inference and fine-grained, hand-collected information on executives and directors.
