Grüezi! (Welcome!)
Welcome to my personal academic webpage! Great that you have found your way here.
I am a Swiss PostDoc in Strategy at the University of Zurich with a PhD in Business & Economics from the University of Zurich. I focus on using applied microeconometrics to examine behavioral (economic) phenomena relevant to strategy and decision-making of people, executives, and organizations. My research centers around corporate governance, strategic management, and behavioral economics.
If you are interested in what I am doing or if my research sparked your interest, do not hesitate to reach out: pascal-flurin.meier@business.uzh.ch. I am always happy to chat or discuss joint research interests and projects.
News
(August, 2023) There is a replication crisis in social sciences. Furthermore, in the light of previous accusations of fraud and unethical behavior, behavioral sciences have been under increased scrutiny. We conducted a replication of a paper on one prominent behavioral bias, inspired by our previous study on car driving exams. It is reassuring to see that outcome bias among sport coaches replicates, although the effect has weakened in some instances. The paper is forthcoming in Journal of Economic Psychology (see here).
(June, 2023) My paper, joint with David Oesch and Raphael Flepp, on CEO luck and strategic risk-taking has been recognized with 2 most inspiring paper awards (SIG Strategic Management; SIG Strategic Management -Behavioural strategy & purpose-driven strategies) at this year's EUROPEAN ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT annual meeting in Dublin. We are currently updating the manuscript and aim to submit it soon.
(January, 2023) Check out the newest working paper, in which I empirically examine if expectations of financial analysts are misled by chance (or in other words, uninformative signals). The paper is joint with Rapahel Flepp and Egon Franck, and available here.
(August, 2022) Our paper "Outcome-bias in Self-Evaluations: Quasi-experimental Evidence from Swiss Driving License Exams" has been accepted for publication in JEBO (Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization". The published version version can be found here.
(June, 2022) Our paper "May bad luck be without you: The effect of CEO luck on strategic risk-taking" has been accepted for participation at this year's SMS annual conference in London. The paper is joint with David Oesch and Raphael Flepp. Check out our working paper here.
