LOOM Platform
LOOM (pLatform fOr cOsmic Measurements) is a platform for measuring cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere. The platform consists of two ArduSiPM detectors, a GPS for time and position, a Pressure and temperature meter, and a mini acquisition computer. All the measurements are tagged in time with an accuracy of 25 ns and recorded on a microSD. The system has been validated up to an altitude of 34 km and is continuously evolving launch by launch (missions: EOS, MoCRiS, Stage INFN OCRA 2022, MiraCosmos 2022, Mocris 2 2023). Our interest is to popularize scientific knowledge of cosmic rays while using the platform to validate new low-cost commercial advanced technology for future satellite systems to use in scientific and commercial programs.
