Calling parents of primary school age children!
We know that assessments can be a source of tension, anxiety, and challenges. We aim to create safe, confidential spaces for you to share your experiences honestly and to know that you are not alone.
For our research study, we would like to hear about
how you are involved in your children's assessment activities (e.g., helping with homework, exam preparation, communicating with teachers, sharing with other parents, tuition)
what challenges you have faced in understanding and responding to your children's results
your feelings, such as anxieties about exam performance and your children's future
what you expect from schools
your own experiences with exams
your knowledge of assessments and what they are supposed to show
your beliefs about the importance and role of assessments
how you are adapting to changes in assessment (e.g., changes in PSLE marking, elimination of mid-year exams)
We will organize and share the findings with policymakers, school leaders, and teachers. We plan to develop resources to help you better understand school assessments and how to best interpret and respond to the results. We also plan to create guides to help teachers communicate with you about your children's assessments.
Parent voices matter!
