Exploring Singaporean Parents' Engagement and Beliefs in Educational Assessments in the Context of Educational Assessment Reform
The project investigates how parents of Singaporean primary school students are engaged in their children's educational assessments and the factors that influence their engagement. The project will use a mixed methods approach, collecting data from both parents and teachers through interviews, focus group discussions and an online survey to gain a comprehensive understanding of parental involvement in educational assessment.
Conduct a qualitative study using data from parent focus groups and teacher interviews to:
identify specific ways that parents engage in their children's assessments
surface challenges that parents face
explore factors that influence their engagement, including beliefs, personal experiences, stress, and assessment literacy.
Conduct a quantitative study to collect and analyze data from an online survey to:
investigate the level of parental involvement in family-led and school-partnership activities
explore the typology of parents' beliefs about educational assessments
examine the level of parents' assessment literacy
measure parents' stress level
