The Selunara Realm, a historical powerhouse on the southern side of the Continent for centuries, underwent a stark decline in the last century, losing significant power and influence. Once a cultural center, it faced territorial losses through civil wars, local rebellions, and defeats in conflicts. The compounding challenges, coupled with rising inflation, created a highly tense social climate. Escalating social tensions gave rise to nationalist movements, particularly popular within the army, offering promises of territorial recovery and the revival of past glory. This fervor culminated in a coup that, supported by the majority, established a new dictatorship, ostensibly in control of the entire Realm. However, the story took an unexpected turn as many eastern provinces became havens for remaining opposition forces.
Now under dictatorial rule, the Selunara Realm embarked on a reconstruction journey, fueled by dreams of restoring a past empire and establishing a robust regime. Simultaneously, preparations for war were underway, driven by the ambition to reclaim the long-lost territories and fulfill the aspirations of a bygone era.
As the war erupted with the Triple Alliance, the Selunara Realm swiftly directed its forces towards Southern Novgoria, a historical nemesis and the Realm's initial target. Ill-prepared for the harsh cold, inadequately equipped, and poorly commanded, the Selunaran troops faced disastrous consequences in the snowy mountains of Novgoria, enduring significant losses. The social climate intensified as the populace sought rapid victories to reaffirm hopes of reclaiming past glory. In response, the dictatorship shifted focus from the Novgorian front, acknowledging its shortcomings, to suppressing internal opposition concentrated in the eastern regions.
This strategic shift allowed the dictatorship to avenge fallen soldiers and showcase its ability to eliminate obstacles hindering Selunara's expansion. However, as the government cracked down on the opposition, local leaders in the Eastern provinces united against the dictatorship. Repressed when they resisted joining the war effort, the opposition grew more ruthless, resorting to assassinations of Selunaran officials and bombings of government offices. Their movement gained momentum through clandestine support from the Albian Empire, coupled with a burgeoning sense of independence among the locals.
Presently, the Selunara Realm finds itself engulfed in a civil war, pitting government forces seeking order against the Rebels striving for independence in the Eastern provinces.
