The Northern Realms were formed from the unification of the Kingdom of Gaetia, Dnaska, and Noveria in the last century. Although Gaetia was once a powerful nation, its aspirations for eastern domination were crushed by a war against Suebia and Novgoria two centuries ago. Since then, Gaetia focused on recovery and improving relations with its neighbors, Noveria and Dnaska. The early years of cohabitation under a single monarchy were challenging, with demands for greater autonomy in Dnaska and outright revolts in some Noverian regions. Despite these difficulties, the monarchy maintained its position, and the king ultimately unified the three entities into the Northern Realms at the century's end.
However, a few years later, at the dawn of the new century, the Tsardom of Novgoria declared war on the Northern Realms to curb its growing influence in the north and reclaim bordering provinces it considered historically theirs. Although the war was brief, the Northern forces held their ground against the Novgorian army for some time before conceding territories due to heavy casualties among the army and population.
As the war drew to a close, the construction of the Central was in its final stages. A few months later, it became fully operational, supplying energy to the entire northern part of the country.
After the war, the nation focused on recovery, rebuilding its navy, and expanding trade routes across the Continent. Despite good relations with central powers like Suebia, which had supported them during the war against Novgoria, the king of the Northern Realms decided to remain neutral. The country did not join either the Pact or the Trinity Alliance, as participation in another war was not in their interest and would hinder economic recovery, bringing unnecessary harm to the people.
