PhD Opportunities

The Pantouris Lab in the Department of Chemistry at the University of the Pacific is inviting applications for two PhD positions:

1)     Protein Chemistry/Cell Biology: Focused on the experimental characterization of novel immunomodulatory proteins.

2)     Computational Chemistry: Centered on molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to explore biomolecular interactions.

Our research investigates the structure–function relationships of key proteins involved in the regulation of cancer cell survival, proliferation, and metastasis. As a PhD student in the Pantouris Lab, you will engage in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and computational science, contributing to the discovery of new therapeutic strategies in oncology.

You will receive hands-on training and mentorship in a wide range of techniques, including:

·        Recombinant protein expression, purification, and characterization

·        Protein x-ray crystallography and protein engineering

·        Small molecule high-throughput screening for drug discovery

·        Mammalian cell culture

·        In vitro biochemical and biophysical assays

·        Computational chemistry tools for structural analysis and drug design
