Pan was born in Pingtan County, an island in the Taiwan Strait of Southeastern China.
Although being a seaside resident, Pan did not learn swimming until more than 30 years old.
Now he can swim in the swimming pool, not in the sea.
Pan knows very well that he is mediocre in science, but he still enjoys his research works.
Once taking experiments, he is able to forget all the unhappy outside the lab.
Some kinds of escape, some kinds of peace.
Out of work Pan likes to sit on the benches in streets or gardens. He stares at people around, relaxed or busy.
Then he feels peaceful, and with a blank mind, he tends to sleep.
These behaviors make his friends believe that Pan has a stagnant brain.
Pan is an avid reader of Ting Chun Wang's Chinese Literary Works.
In 2004, Pan built up a forum for Mr. Wang, where they got contacts.
