I applied for the junior editor position at The Revival Zine online publication and got accepted at the beginning of my senior year! The Revival Zine at Sonoma State wants to incorporate intersectionality and social justice into our campus community.
Below are the articles/pieces I have published.
ISSUE #18: "Art is History"
This piece is about women in art, specifically Native women. I focus on Ledger Art and its history. I also connect it to how Native art is important to "America's history." I include resources to encourage the reader to learn more about this art form, as well as other forms, and the history of Native peoples.
ISSUE #19: "Carry On"
This piece is about some of the important African American figures in history and how history is distorted. The importance of carrying on the stories and the truths about history for the future generations. I give examples of different books and add two more to make sort of a beginning list to learn about African-American history and other significant events.
ISSUE #21: "Say My Name"
This piece is about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). I connect this to my CCJS class: Women and Crime and talk about the movement. I then talk about.
some of the women and who they were and what happened to them. I leave the readers some resources to educate yourself and ways to support.
