I believe community to be a place where individuals feel comfortable. A community can look very different for everyone, but that is the beauty of a community is that everyone feels comfortable in a different environment and around different people. A community is most commonly viewed as people who live in the same area, but most times people find their community with other people that have the same interests. For example, playing a sport, or being a part of an organization The story of this community is lively and exciting. Always something going on, very seldomly is there a time where people are not walking their dogs or taking a walk with a friend. The peak time people go on walks is either early in the morning or right before the sunsets; that perfect dusk hour where the sky is a calm shade of blue and everything seems to be at peace.
Considering the university area being main campus as the focus and with the streets being from East of I-25, South of I-40 up to San Mateo Blvd NE, Gisbon Blvd NE. In this area there are about 15 parks in this area, not to mention that Johnson Field is a huge piece of land that provides the community, especially the university community with an area to be outside with friends as well as exercise. Parks provide a community with space to be interactive and be outdoors. With the great weather that Albuquerque is so blessed to have each season, having parks in various areas in a community allow people to get out and about more and enjoy the weather and change of scenery every now and then.
The nature of being in school and the demographic of people is a wide range. The university area brings together the young college students in close proximity to families and older individuals who have lived in this part of Albuquerque for many years.
The major water source in this area is the duck pond. Being in a land locked state there are not many water sources, and also being in the desert. However, the duck pond on main campus brings wild life to those who go to school on campus and have the opportunity and be around wild life in an urban setting, where there is a high population of people and constant flow of traffic.
Tree museum on campus, there are over 100 different spices on main campus. The entire geography of the campus is enticing and inviting for people to be outdoors. Living in the University area has an energetic atmosphere.
