From a biotech engineer building a solar electric vehicle to discovering my deep passion for medicine and healthcare, my journey has been full of unexpected turns. These experiences eventually led me to the field of genomics and bioinformatics.
My fascination with understanding complex diseases comes from the very challenge they present. The intricate interplay of genetic and epigenetic risk factors drives my curiosity. I believe that by decoding even a small part of this complexity, we can take meaningful steps toward making drugs more effective for individuals—or even discovering new ways to correct misinformation at the genetic level.
Well, finding balance and joy is singing and humming. You dont have to be the best, just joyous to learn a skill buried deep within. Raag Bagyashree makes wait for lovely things to happen in anticipation of the unknown. The other raagas that I have tried to learn, make me feel different emotions. Hence, the love for music and different types of it helps me connect to myself and those around me.
I cannot find my old artwork when I was in school but I always loved coloring empty sheets or paper or doodling. Of course its a skill I learnt at school and on the fly, but when I have some time and feel like painting my little world with colors I always keep empty canvas and sheets with supplies.
I often find myself expressing the logic of science so differently and coherently when I speak to my younger sister. We are a decade apart and its fascinating how I have to push myself to think in simple terms. This is what pushed me to go and teach computational biology to Middle School girls during the initial years of my PhD. It was fun and challenging and we had a blast!
