Dr. Camilla Marquez is a physician with a specialization in obstetrics and gynecology. She attended Smith College and earned her M.D. degree from UC Davis Medical School.
Camilla Marquez was encouraged by Watsonville High School counselor Mike Sullivan to leave her hometown to attend school on the east coast. Mike was pivotal in helping her prepare her application and arranging east coast college visits and interviews. When she graduated from high school in 1987, she went east to Smith College in Massachusetts. After completing her undergraduate education, Dr. Marquez returned to California to attend medical school at UC Davis.
As a graduate of UC San Francisco's Fresno campus residency program, Dr. Marquez brought the latest techniques and skills to her position as an OB/GYN physician in Fresno where she has been practicing medicine since 1999. As the first woman to serve as the Chair of the OBGYN department at Saint Agnes Medical Center, she became known for her natural warmth and dedication.
Her bilingual/Spanish skills have made it possible for Dr. Marquez to focus on establishing a strong doctor-patient bond with all her patients. She is recognized as a leading advocate for young women's health issues and has been a featured physician on TLC’s program “My Teen is Pregnant, and “So Am I” and is often the invited speaker on women’s health issues. Her participation in community forums and conferences has been ongoing since she entered medical practice in Fresno, California. Dr. Marquez is Board Certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
While dedicating herself to her medical practice, she still manages to find time to run in marathons and travel with her husband and two young children. Dr. Marquez is also well known for encouraging students who want to pursue careers in medicine.
