LUCKY WITCHES
A means to play Magic the Gathering with Playing Cards
Evidence:
Here's a game I thought up sometime in 2025, oh yeah, it was September 18th, ' cause I wrote it on the rules paper. It's called lucky witches because I thought of it while in jail with all the other men who, well, we're just males there doing time because we have to but we get to, y'know? Anyway, I hope you can follow the rules. It's all even numbers are lands except 10s, which are carriages. Lands are called "Luck" because these cards are special to everyone who has any, whether bad or good, and they count as two if you cast cards with the same suit, but only half if off color. You'll see. Alright, odd number cards are special: The Ace is called an Arrow, the 3 is a Bomb, the 5 is a Witch, the 7 is a Sword, and the 9 is a Flower. The Joker can be played as a land card with two suits, the Dark Joker being Club or Spade and the Colored Joker being Diamond or Heart; OR as a Royal that is also a double-land. Royals (except Jack) may be played face down, as well as 9s (because they're Royal, too), and then flipped up later. Bombs, Witches, and Carriages may be played face down as Royal Secrets. The rules follow like MTG with each player following in turn starting with untap, upkeep, draw, main phase, combat phase, second main phase, and end step.
Rules:
A Arrows, 1x, tap K or J and deal X damage to Royal
3 Bombs, 2, destroy carriage, royal, or sword
5 Witches, 3, cancel odd or royal card (including other witches)
7 Swords, 4, tap a suit K for +2/+2 to Royals, other K for +1/+1 to Royals
9 Flowers, 2, 0/2, tap suit Q to return a card to your hand
10 Carriage, 4, tap KQJ: Draw, KQ: Return Flower, KJ: Return Arrow, QJ: +2 Luck, K: Sacrifice J and Destroy Bomb, J: Return Witch, RR: Spy, FF: Undestroy
J Jack, 2, 1/1, +1/+1 for each suit permanent
Q Queen, 4, 3/3, +2/+2 with suit carriage
K King, 4, 2/2, +3/+3 with suit queen
2, 4, 6, 8 Luck (Same suit counts as two, off color counts as half)
Carriages must be bombed and cannot be canceled by a witch.
King of Clubs, "Sacrifice to return a Queen to your hand."
King of Diamonds, "Sacrifice to destroy a Carriage."
King of Spades, "Sacrifice to destroy any Royal."
King of Hearts, "Sacrifice to destroy any Sword."
Queen of Hearts, "Sacrifice to return King of Clubs to your hand."
All Kings have "Tap a Queen, Sacrifice this King to return its Queen to your hand."
Witches, Carriages, and Bombs can be played face down for any 2 luck as a Royal Secret 2/2 with "Flip face up for any 2 luck at any time."
Flipping these prevents arrow damage (and attack). Carriage flips are canceled by a Witch.
Kings, Queens, and Flowers can be played face down for 2 luck as a Royal Secret 2/2 with "Flip face up for any 2 luck at any time."
Flipping these does not prevent arrow nor attack damage and are canceled by a Witch.
Return cards from discard or battlefield.
Spy: Look at top card and replace to top or bottom.
Sacrificed, used, or defeated cards go to discard.
Do not return destroyed cards.
Witches cannot cancel cards played face down.
Witches must be played or flipped when a card is played or flipped
Face down cards have no suit, color, nor face up ability until flipped.
Once flipped face up, a card cannot be flipped face down again.
Leftover double luck for a same suit play is usable for other plays.
Single deck 2-player variant:
Add Jokers as double suit luck that can be played face down with "Flip face up for 2 luck at any time. If you do, Joker is a 4/4 Royal with tap for double suit luck."
27: All black cards + Black Joker
Queen of Spades has: "Sacrifice to return King."
27: All red cards + Color Joker
Queen of Hearts has: "Sacrifice to return any King."
