I was reading on blacklds.org about Joseph Smith and his presidential campaign in 1844. He desired to eliminate prisons and the thought came to me: Why don't Mormons focus every member on getting an ounce of gold and working together as a ward to bail members out of jail?
If you don't have an ounce of gold as a member, you can go to different classes (such as gospel principles instead of gospel doctrine), make social connections, and work outside of church until you earn your gold again. Once you have an ounce of gold you can let the church keep that one and use tithing to draw against it.
If the church were to hold Bitcoin in addition to the members' gold, you'd ask and shall receive Bitcoin electronically, which is much faster and easier than doing anything with cash.
Let the ward clerk hold this
Ask the ward clerk for this
To alleviate the burden on the ward clerk, you would be limited to withdrawing your entire coin all at once.
If you pay your tithes in Bitcoin, this also makes settlement much faster, as there is no need for banks.
If you are ever arrested your gold coin (and those of other members) can be borrowed against to bail you out.
