Welcome to Pack 371!
Joining a new Pack can come with a lot of questions — How do I register? What am I paying for? What does my Scout need? What’s a den? Do we need a uniform? — so we’ve put together everything you need to get started in one place.
Joining a new Pack can come with a lot of questions — How do I register? What am I paying for? What does my Scout need? What’s a den? Do we need a uniform? — so we’ve put together everything you need to get started in one place.
First thing you should do is register your Scout. Registration is completed through Scouting America and includes a registration fee paid directly through the Scouting organization. This fee is separate from any dues collected by Pack 371.
Your Scouting registration helps support the larger Scouting program and provides things such as your Scout’s official membership, national and local Scouting programs and resources, administrative support, insurance and access to Council programs, camps and other Scouting opportunities.
Once registered, your Scout will be assigned to a den based on their grade level. Your den is your Scout’s smaller group within Pack 371.
Kindergarten: Lion
1st Grade: Tiger
2nd Grade: Wolf
3rd Grade: Bear
4th Grade: Webelos
5th Grade: Arrow of Light
Your Den Leader will be one of your main points of contact throughout the year and will help guide you and your Scout through meetings, Adventures and advancement.
The Cub Scout uniform helps Scouts feel like part of their den, Pack and the larger Scouting community.
Your Scout will need the appropriate Cub Scout uniform for their rank, along with the required Pack and Council insignia.
Before buying everything, check our Uniform Guide so you know exactly what your Scout needs — and what you can skip.
Good communication helps everyone know what’s happening.
Make sure we have your current email address and phone number, and watch for Pack communications about meetings, events, schedule changes, fundraising and other important information.
We also recommend adding Pack and Den dates to your family calendar early so you can plan ahead.
Cub Scouts work through a series of age-appropriate activities called Adventures. Adventures may focus on outdoor skills, citizenship, fitness, safety, family, character and other areas.
Scouts complete Adventures during den meetings, Pack activities, special events and sometimes at home with their families.
As Scouts complete requirements, they earn recognition and work toward completing their rank for the year.
You don't need to figure this out on your own. Your Den Leader will help guide your Scout through what they need to complete.
Cub Scouting is a family program, and families are an important part of making our Pack successful.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend activities, participate with their Scouts and lend a hand when they can. Pack 371 is run entirely by volunteers, so every little bit of help makes a difference — whether that's helping at one event, bringing supplies, assisting your Den Leader or taking on a larger volunteer role.
This may be the most important one.
Scouting is about learning and advancement, but it’s also about trying new things, making friends, getting outdoors and creating great memories.
Your Scout doesn't need to know how to camp, tie knots or build a Pinewood Derby car before joining. That's what we're here to learn!
Have Questions? Just Ask!
There’s a lot to learn when you first join, and questions are always welcome.
Your Den Leader is a great first resource for questions about den meetings, Adventures and advancement. For Pack-wide questions, registration or general help, reach out to the Pack 371 leadership team at lakeviewpack371@gmail.com.
