The Cub Scouts Lion den is the entry-level group for the youngest Cub Scouts — kindergarten-age children (around 5–6 years old).

What Is the Lion Den?

• Age/Grade: Kindergarten (must be at least 5 years old).

• Program Level: It's the first rank in Cub Scouts.

• Group Name: These scouts are called Lions, and they meet in a Lion den.

• Part of: The larger Cub Scout pack, but with age-appropriate activities.
  
  

What Do Lions Do?

The Lion program focuses on fun, simple activities, and family involvement — it’s meant to ease kids into the Cub Scouting experience.

• Adventures: Lions complete short themed activities (called "adventures") that focus on:

  • Teamwork

  • Nature

  • Games

  • Health and safety

  • Family and community

• Meetings: Usually three times a month, led by a Lion Guide (a trained adult leader, often a parent).

• Family Involvement: Parents or guardians attend meetings and activities with their Lion.
  
  

What Do They Earn?

• Lions can earn a Lion badge by completing required adventures.

• They may also earn stickers, belt loops, or other small awards for participation and achievements.

• Their accomplishments are recognized at pack meetings.
