In Cub Scouts, youth are part of Dens, smaller groups made up of Scouts in the same grade who work together with their adult Den Leader on age-appropriate adventures. As a Cub Scout advances through the ranks, the requirements get more challenging, to match the new skills and abilities they have learned.
In our Pack, most dens meet every week from September to February, then typically every other week March to May. Younger dens might meet every other week for the whole program year. Dens will often have other activities during the month, like hikes or field trips. Once a month, the whole Pack comes together for a Pack meeting instead, where we recognize advancement and awards and enjoy skits and songs. Some months, we may have a special event as our Pack meeting, like the Pinewood Derby. During the summer, we have Pack activities several times a month instead of regular meetings.
When we meet outdoors, our meetings are held at St Raphael Church in Morningside. When our meetings are held indoors, we meet at Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside. Both churches are part of the Saint Jude Parish.
The business of the Pack is managed by the Pack committee, which is open to all parents/guardians of Scouts. The Pack committee meets virtually once a month.
