Uniforms
Scout uniforms can be purchased at the local scout shop (2241 Woodland Ave) or online. Scouts should have at least a shirt (~$15 - $35) and a belt ($15). Scouts earn loops for individual adventures, which go on the belt, and each year can earn their rank patch, which goes on the shirt. Our pack is not super strict as far as dress code goes. Come as you are. There's also a council uniform exchange, where you can possibly pick up some gently used gear. Email them at cubsscoutuniformexchange@gmail.com with a request for what you need and they'll let you know what's available. Our pack also encourages scouts to donate year specific bits like hats and neckerchiefs at the end of the year, so we may have items available.
Shirts
Lions (kindergartners) just wear a lions t-shirt, while scouts from 1st though 4th grade wear a button up blue uniform shirt. They can use the same one throughout scouts, assuming they don’t outgrow it. 5th graders can advance to a khaki shirt, which they can continue to wear in a Scouting America Troop after cub scouts. The button up shirts are called the "Class A," and are usually worn at meetings and most outings. Additionally, scouts can wear a "class B" uniform, which is any t-shirt with a scouting logo on it. These are usually for more active type activities. We have some pack t-shirts for $15, and most council events come with a t-shirt as well. Any of those are fine, and there are countless other shirts available online or at the scout shop if you're interested.
Etc.
There are also den specific hats, neckerchiefs, slides, etc. for purchase each year, as well as generic scout pants/shorts/socks. Knock yourself out with any of these if you want, but they're not required. All in, everything can cost over $150 up front if you're starting from scratch, though less on a year to year basis if you already have a shirt/belt and are just upgrading hats/neckerchiefs to the next grade level. The scout shop staff are very nice and helpful, but will try to sell you everything available, so just know that you don't NEED to be decked out in everything. You can also likely get some rank specific items gently used from people in the pack.
