Hello!
Thanks for you interest in Cub Scouts! We are Pack 110 serving families across the near west side and greater Cleveland area.
General Cub Scout Info
Cub Scouts is open to both boys and girls in grades K - 5.Our pack consists of six individual mixed gender “dens” corresponding to grade levels K-5th. Kindergartners are in the “Lions” dens, 1st graders are “Tigers,” 2nd graders are “Wolves,” 3rd graders are “Bears,” 4th graders are “Webelos,” and 5th graders are “Arrow of Light” scouts. Beyond 5th grade, scouts graduate into Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts), which serves both boys and girls up to age 18. The cub scouting calendar corresponds to the school year, though we do continue with some fun activities over the summer. For the K - 1st graders, a parent guardian is required to attend all meetings. Starting in 2nd grade with the wolves, parents could drop their scout off at meetings. For weekend activities or overnight camping, scouts will need an adult guardian.
During the year, scouts work on various adventures to earn their rank badges for the year. Some adventures are required to earn rank, while others are elective. While completing these adventures, kids learn about safety, first aid, citizenship, leadership, community, service, the outdoors, fitness, & nutrition. There are adventures for biking, fishing, camping, swimming, archery, BB guns, slingshots, boating, science, technology, engineering, and math for all grade levels. Scouts 3rd grade and up will also learn to safely use pocket knives. Each grade level also has a required faith based adventure. Our pack leaves these for the scouts to complete with their family on their own. While some packs are affiliated with various churches, ours is secular and doesn’t have a strong faith-based focus.
As scouts complete the requirements for adventures, they earn belt loops in the younger years, and pins for the 4th and 5th graders. Once they’ve earned all the required adventures they earn their rank badge (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, etc.) for the year. Scouts officially graduate to their next year at the end of May, regardless of whether they complete their rank badge or not.
