Basically, I developed the first app just for my partner. She had contracted coronavirus in 2021 and had never really recovered since.
At the time, long-term or post-COVID was not a term that I was familiar with and, as an athlete, it was always clear to me that you would get fit again with the right training.
I then had to ask her to explain ‘pacing’ or energy management to me.
In April 2023, we founded the first self-help group for post-COVID sufferers in Kerpen - the first ever in the entire Rhein-Erft district.
Like so many people affected by fatigue, her own body perception and feeling of (physical) overload is massively disturbed.
To give her some help and guidance, I started developing apps for Garmin watches at the beginning of 2023 and eventually developed this app.
In order for her to be able to use the app, it naturally had to be in the Garmin IQ Store and thus the app found its way into the world - where it is already used and appreciated by many people affected by MC/FS and Long-COVID.
Emails from all over the world express this.
Some time later, our ‘12 Spoons Principle’ card set was created , which explains pacing in an understandable way using symbol cards and is used as an aid in group work and also by those affected themselves. The card set can be purchased in the specially created online shop.
Why aren't you making money with it?
People affected by the disease already have a hard enough time. Many have lost their jobs and can no longer work.
Many spend money on private treatment in the hope of getting their old life back.
There is hardly any financial support, as the diagnosis and thus the proof of need is very difficult.
That's why the app is free - and always will be.
I can't achieve a cure, but I can use the app to make the world a little bit better for everyone affected.
