What Our New S1 Pupils Said About St Kent's
Questions P7 Pupils Ask Us
“What if I get lost?”
You probably will take a wrong turn at some point — almost everyone does!
There will be plenty of people around to help, and you’ll quickly learn where everything is. Within a few weeks, finding your way around will feel completely normal.
⸻
“What if my friends aren’t in my class?”
You’ll still see friends from primary school, but S1 is also a brilliant opportunity to meet new people.
Everyone else is starting too, so there are lots of pupils looking to make new friends.
You might be surprised how quickly your friendship group grows.
⸻
“What if I’m late for a class?”
Don’t panic.
Teachers understand that you’re learning your way around the school, particularly during your first few weeks.
Ask someone for directions and we’ll help you get where you need to be.
⸻
“What happens at lunchtime?”
You’ll have time to eat, spend time with friends and take a break before afternoon lessons.
We’ll explain where you can go, how lunch works and what choices are available before you’re expected to manage it yourself.
⸻
“Will I get lots of homework?”
Different subjects may give you work to complete outside class, but your teachers will explain clearly what you need to do and when it needs to be completed.
Part of S1 is learning how to become more organised and independent — and we’ll help you develop those skills.
⸻
“What if I find the work difficult?”
Tell us.
Teachers don’t expect everyone to understand everything immediately.
Asking for help is part of learning, and there are lots of people at St Kentigern’s who can support you.
⸻
“What if I’m worried about something?”
You don’t have to deal with worries on your own.
Speak to an adult you trust — your Key Adult, a teacher, your House team or another member of staff.
There is always someone you can talk to.
